PTA IMPLEMENTS RS200 FINE FOR INACTIVE SIMS IN PAKISTAN: URGES RESPONSIBLE USAGE.

In Pakistan, telecom providers give out free SIMs (subscriber identity modules) and people also tend to have more of them than needed, leading to scores of SIMs not being used and kept idle.

This issue has been constant and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken notice of the situation, announcing a fine of Rs200 on people who haven't used their SIMs for a period of six months.

Effective from January 1, 2024, cellular mobile operators in Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) can levy a "SIM Disowning Charge up to Rs200 on SIMs having a retention period of less than six months".

To check the status of registered SIMs, consumers can use the following methods:

  • By visiting https://cnic.sims.pk/
  • Sending an SMS with CNIC number (without dashes) to 668 (charges apply).

Furthermore, the PTA advised consumers to disown or return unnecessary SIMs free of charge by December 31, 2023.

"By doing so, consumers can avoid SIM disowning charges and contribute towards responsible usage of SIMs," the telecommunication authority said in its statement.

A one-time waiver against the SIM disowning charge will be granted in cases of illegal SIM issuance without the knowledge or consent of the consumer, the body said.

"With this decision, the PTA stays committed to national safety and security while ensuring uninterrupted quality services to all telecom consumers," it added.

Health in Ghiza strip

“The wounded keep dying in front of your eyes but there’s nothing you can do, and I think that is a trauma I will carry with me for all my life,” Bassel Amr, a volunteer ICU physician told Middle East Eye. He called the aftermath of ground attacks ‘beyond worst case scenario’ as the situation on the ground in Gaza unfolds.

Gaza’s hospitals were already at full capacity, tending to patients, including those who were wounded, pregnant women, children, and newborn infants in the aftermath of Israeli airstrikes. Unfortunately, with the recent ground invasion, the situation has further deteriorated. In addition to the existing patients, healthcare personnel are now also confronted with trauma injuries resulting from ground attacks.

“The smell of blood and sand is everywhere,” Dr Mohammad Mattar, head of the radiology department at Al-Shifa Hospital which is Gaza Strip’s largest and as of now only operational medical complex since other places have run out of fuel told NPR.

“We are left in a situation where we have to make the difficult decision to risk the life of one patient to save the life of another,” Dr Amr said. He emphasized that the hospital is extremely overcrowded, with “no space to walk,” as thousands of civilians have sought shelter there due to the Israeli airstrikes. Similar to the situation at Al-Shifa, Al-Awda is grappling with insufficient capacity to handle casualties and is facing a critical shortage of medical supplies, especially after the ground invasion.

He added that Gaza is now suffering from a shortage of shrouds.“There is nothing worse than not finding enough shrouds to cover the martyrs, so you wrap them with garbage bags and old pieces of cloth,” he said.

“Now, with the ongoing siege and the fuel running out, a humanitarian catastrophe is imminent, and we will lose patients in our department and possibly thousands of patients in the entire hospital,” he added.

Previously, in a video released by DW Cut, doctors have pleaded several times that Gaza is about to experience a total collapse of the healthcare system due to supplies running out like sand in hand and the number of casualties increasing each day.

Digital world

 Digital world

The digital world is a vast and rapidly evolving space that has transformed the way we live and work. From the internet and social media to mobile devices and smart technology, the digital world has brought countless benefits and opportunities to our lives. But it has also brought with it new challenges and dangers, as we navigate this constantly changing landscape.

One of the most significant developments of the digital age has been the growth of the internet. This global network of interconnected computers has transformed the way we communicate, access information, and do business. It has brought people from all corners of the world closer together, breaking down barriers of geography and language.

The internet has also opened up new opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses. E-commerce platforms like Amazon, eBay, and Etsy have made it possible for anyone with a computer and an internet connection to sell their products and services to a global audience. The gig economy, made possible by platforms like Airbnb, Uber, and TaskRabbit, has given people the ability to earn money on their own terms, without the need for a traditional 9-to-5 job.

But the internet has also brought with it new challenges and dangers. Cybersecurity threats such as malware, ransomware, and phishing attacks have become increasingly common, putting individuals and businesses at risk of data breaches and financial losses. Online privacy has also become a major concern, as companies and governments collect and use personal data in ways that can feel intrusive and unsettling.

Social media has also had a major impact on the digital world. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have created new ways for people to connect, share information, and express themselves. But they have also been criticized for their role in spreading misinformation, promoting echo chambers, and enabling cyberbullying.

Mobile devices have also changed the way we live and work. Smartphones and tablets have made it possible for us to stay connected and productive anytime, anywhere. But they have also led to concerns about screen addiction and the impact of constant connectedness on our mental health.

The digital world has also brought about the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), a network of connected devices that can communicate with each other and the internet. This has opened up new possibilities for automation and efficiency, but it has also raised concerns about security and privacy.

Overall, the digital world has brought countless benefits and opportunities, but it has also created new challenges and dangers. It is up to each of us to navigate this constantly changing landscape and make the most of its benefits while also being mindful of its risks. Whether we are using the internet for communication, commerce, or entertainment, it is important to stay informed, stay safe, and be responsible digital citizens

Winter Weather:

Safety Precautions for Enjoying the Season

As the winter season approaches, it's important to be prepared for the colder temperatures and potential winter weather events, such as snowstorms and ice storms. While the winter season can be beautiful, with snow-covered landscapes and cozy evenings by the fireplace, it's important to take safety precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Today, we experienced a snowstorm, with heavy snowfall covering the ground and high mountains wrapped in a blanket of white. It's a picturesque scene, and a reminder of the unique beauty of winter. But it's also important to remember that winter weather can pose dangers to human life, and it's important to take steps to stay safe.

One of the main risks of winter weather is the cold temperatures. Hypothermia and frostbite are two common cold-related injuries that can occur when the body's temperature drops below normal. To prevent hypothermia and frostbite, it's important to stay warm and dry, and to dress in layers to retain body heat. It's also a good idea to keep a winter emergency kit in your car, in case you become stranded in cold weather.

Another hazard of winter weather is the risk of slips and falls on icy surfaces. To prevent falls, it's important to take care when walking on slippery surfaces, and to wear shoes or boots with good traction. It's also a good idea to clear snow and ice from sidewalks and driveways, to make it easier to get around safely.

In addition to the cold temperatures and slippery surfaces, winter weather can also bring other hazards, such as power outages and car accidents. To prepare for these types of emergencies, it's important to have a plan in place and to have the necessary supplies on hand. This could include non-perishable food, bottled water, flashlights, and extra blankets.

Overall, while winter weather can be beautiful and enjoyable, it's important to take safety precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones. By following these tips and being prepared, you can enjoy the winter season while staying safe and healthy. So, these are some important precautions that we should take to enjoy winter weather safely

LATEST TECHNOLOGY

Virtual Reality: The Latest Technology and Its Impact on Human Life

Virtual reality (VR) technology is a rapidly evolving field that has the potential to transform a wide range of industries and change the way we experience the world. VR allows users to immerse themselves in a computer-generated environment, either for entertainment or for practical purposes, such as training and education.

In this blog post, we will explore the latest developments in VR technology, its advantages and disadvantages, and its potential impact on human life.

What is Virtual Reality?

Virtual reality (VR) refers to a computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way. VR technology is typically experienced through a headset that is worn over the eyes, allowing users to see and hear the virtual environment as if they were actually there. Some VR systems also include handheld controllers or other devices that allow users to interact with the virtual environment.

VR technology has been around for decades, but it has only recently become more widely available and affordable. Advancements in computer processing power and graphics have made it possible to create highly realistic and immersive VR experiences.

Advantages of Virtual Reality

One of the main advantages of VR technology is its ability to provide a highly realistic and immersive experience. Whether it's used for gaming, training, or education, VR allows users to feel like they are actually in the environment they are experiencing. This can be especially useful for simulations or scenarios that would be difficult or dangerous to experience in real life.

For example, VR can be used to train surgeons in a simulated operating room, allowing them to practice complex procedures without risk to real patients. It can also be used to train soldiers in simulated combat scenarios, or to prepare pilots for different types of emergencies.

In addition to its practical applications, VR also has the potential to revolutionize the entertainment industry. VR games and experiences allow users to feel like they are part of the action, rather than just watching it on a screen. This can provide a more engaging and immersive experience for users.

Disadvantages of Virtual Reality

Despite its many potential benefits, VR technology also has some potential drawbacks. One concern is the impact on physical health, as prolonged use of VR headsets can lead to eye strain, headaches, and neck and shoulder discomfort. Additionally, VR technology can be expensive and may not be accessible to everyone.

There are also concerns about the impact of VR on social interactions and relationships. Some people worry that VR could become a substitute for real-world social interactions, leading to social isolation and disconnection. It is important to use VR technology in moderation and to maintain a balance between virtual and real-world experiences.

Impact on Human Life

In terms of its impact on human life, VR technology has the potential to revolutionize a number of industries. It can be used for training in a variety of fields, including healthcare, military, and aviation. It can also be used for therapy and rehabilitation, and has the potential to improve the lives of people with disabilities.

For example, VR can be used to help people with phobias or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) confront their fears in a controlled environment. It can also be used to help stroke victims recover motor skills, or to provide virtual rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injuries.

Additionally, VR technology has the potential to change the way we experience entertainment. VR games and experiences allow users to feel like they are part of the action, rather than just watching it on a screen. This can provide a more engaging and immersive experience for users.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, virtual reality technology is a rapidly evolving field that has the potential

top football player

Top Football player in the world "Lionel Messi''

Messi was born on 24 June 1987 in Rosario, Santa Fe the third of four children of Jorge Messi, a steel factory manager, and his wife Celia Cuccittini, who worked in a magnet manufacturing workshop. On his father's side, he is of Italian and Spanish descent, the great-grandson of immigrants from the north-central Adriatic Marche region of Italy, and on his mother's side, he has primarily Italian ancestry. Growing up in a tight-knit, football-loving family, "Leo" developed a passion for the sport from an early age, playing constantly with his older brothers, Rodrigo and Matías, and his cousins, Maximiliano and Emanuel Biancucchi, both of whom became professional footballers.

At the age of four he joined local club Grandoli, where he was coached by his father, though his earliest influence as a player came from his maternal grandmother, Celia, who accompanied him to training and matches. He was greatly affected by her death, shortly before his eleventh birthday; since then, as a devout Roman Catholic, he has celebrated his goals by looking up and pointing to the sky in tribute to his grandmother. "When you saw him you would think: this kid can't play ball. He's a dwarf, he's too fragile, too small. But immediately you'd realise that he was born different, that he was a phenomenon and that he was going to be something impressive." – Newell's Old Boys youth coach Adrián Coria shares his first impression of the 12-year-old Messi. A lifelong supporter of Newell's Old Boys, Messi joined the Rosario club when he was six years old. During the six years he played for Newell's, he scored almost 500 goals as a member of "The Machine of '87", the near-unbeatable youth side named for the year of their birth, and regularly entertained crowds by performing ball tricks during half-time of the first team's home games. However, his future as a professional player was threatened when, aged 10, he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency. As his father's health insurance covered only two years of growth hormone treatment, which cost at least $1,000 per month, Newell's agreed to contribute, but later reneged on their promise. He was scouted by Buenos Aires club River Plate, whose playmaker, Pablo Aimar, he idolised, but they declined to pay for his treatment. His goalscoring idol growing up was Ronaldo, with Messi calling him "the best forward I've ever seen".Messi enrolled at Barcelona's youth academy, La Masia, aged 13. As the Messi family had relatives in Catalonia, they sought to arrange a trial with Barcelona in September 2000. First team director Charly Rexach immediately wanted to sign him, but the board of directors hesitated; at the time it was highly unusual for European clubs to sign foreign players of such a young age. On 14 December, an ultimatum was issued for Barcelona to prove their commitment, and Rexach, with no other paper at hand, offered a contract on a paper napkin. In February 2001, the family relocated to Barcelona, where they moved into an apartment near the club's stadium, Camp Nou. During his first year in Spain, Messi rarely played with the Infantiles due to a transfer conflict with Newell's; as a foreigner, he could only be fielded in friendlies and the Catalan league. Without football, he struggled to integrate into the team; already reserved by nature, he was so quiet that his teammates initially believed he was mute. At home, he suffered from homesickness after his mother moved back to Rosario with his brothers and little sister, María Sol, while he stayed in Barcelona with his father. After a year at Barcelona's youth academy, La Masia, Messi was finally enrolled in the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in February 2002. Now playing in all competitions, he befriended his teammates, among whom were Cesc Fàbregas and Gerard Piqué.After completing his growth hormone treatment aged 14Messi became an integral part of the "Baby Dream Team", Barcelona's greatest-ever youth side. During his first full season (2002–03), he was top scorer with 36 goals in 30 games for the Cadetes A, who won an unprecedented treble of the league and both the Spanish and Catalan cups. The Copa Catalunya final, a 4–1 victory over Espanyol, became known in club lore as the partido de la máscara, the final of the mask. A week after suffering a broken cheekbone during a league match, Messi was allowed to start the game on the condition that he wear a plastic protector; soon hindered by the mask, he took it off and scored two goals in 10 minutes before his substitution. At the close of the season, he received an offer to join Arsenal, his first from a foreign club, but while Fàbregas and Piqué soon left for England, he chose to remain in Barcelona

Style of play

A versatile forward, Messi often plays as a classic number 10.

Due to his short stature, Messi has a lower centre of gravity than taller players, which gives him greater agility, allowing him to change direction more quickly and evade opposing tackles;[490][491] this has led the Spanish media to dub him La Pulga Atómica ("The Atomic Flea").[492][493][494] Despite being physically unimposing, he possesses significant upper-body strength, which, combined with his low centre of gravity and resulting balance, aids him in withstanding physical challenges from opponents; he has consequently been noted for his lack of diving in a sport rife with playacting.[15][491][495] His short, strong legs allow him to excel in short bursts of acceleration while his quick feet enable him to retain control of the ball when dribbling at speed.[496] His former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola once stated, "Messi is the only player that runs faster with the ball than he does without it."[44] Although he has improved his ability with his weaker foot since his mid-20s, Messi is predominantly a left-footed player; with the outside of his left foot, he usually begins dribbling runs, while he uses the inside of his foot to finish and provide passes and assists.[497][498]

A prolific goalscorer, Messi is known for his finishing, positioning, quick reactions, and ability to make attacking runs to beat the defensive line. He also functions in a playmaking role, courtesy of his vision and range of passing.[499] He has often been described as a magician; a conjurer, creating goals and opportunities where seemingly none exist.[500][501][502] Moreover, he is an accurate free kick and penalty kick taker.[491][503] As of October 2022, Messi ranks 9th all time in goals scored from direct free kicks with 60,[504] the most among active players.[505] He also has a penchant for scoring from chips.[506]

Messi is known to drop deep, link-up with midfielders, orchestrate attacking plays, and create goal-scoring opportunities.

Messi's pace and technical ability enable him to undertake individual dribbling runs towards goal, in particular during counterattacks, usually starting from the halfway line or the right side of the pitch.[495][503][507] Widely considered to be the best dribbler in the world,[508] and one of the greatest dribblers of all time,[509] with regard to this ability, his former Argentina manager Diego Maradona has said of him, "The ball stays glued to his foot; I've seen great players in my career, but I've never seen anyone with Messi's ball control."[498] Beyond his individual qualities, he is also a well-rounded, hard-working team player, known for his creative combinations, in particular with former Barcelona midfielders Xavi and Andrés Iniesta.[490][491]

Tactically, Messi plays in a free attacking role; a versatile player, he is capable of attacking on either wing or through the centre of the pitch. His favoured position in childhood was the playmaker behind two strikers, known as the enganche in Argentine football, but he began his career in Spain as a left-winger or left-sided forward.[379] Upon his first-team debut, he was moved onto the right wing by manager Frank Rijkaard; from this position, he could more easily cut through the defence into the middle of the pitch and curl shots on goal with his left foot, rather than predominantly cross balls for teammates.[44] Under Guardiola and subsequent managers, he most often played in a false nine role; positioned as a centre-forward or lone striker, he would roam the centre, often moving deep into midfield and drawing defenders with him, in order to create and exploit spaces for passes, other teammates' attacking runs off the ball, Messi's own dribbling runs, or combinations with Xavi and Iniesta.[22] Under the stewardship of Luis Enrique, Messi initially returned to playing in the right-sided position that characterised much of his early career in the manager's 4–3–3 formation,[172][510] while he was increasingly deployed in a deeper, free playmaking role in later seasons.[511][512] Under manager Ernesto Valverde, Messi played in a variety of roles. While he occasionally continued to be deployed in a deeper role, from which he could make runs from behind into the box,[513] or even on the right wing[514] or as a false nine,[515][516] he was also used in a more offensive, central role in a 4–2–3–1,[512] or as a second striker in a 4–4–2 formation, where he was once again given the licence to drop deep, link-up with midfielders, orchestrate his team's attacking plays, and create chances for his attacking partner Suárez.[517][518]

Messi prepares to shoot with his dominant left foot in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final

As his career advanced, and his tendency to dribble diminished slightly with age, Messi began to dictate play in deeper areas of the pitch and developed into one of the best passers and playmakers in football history.[519][520][521] His work-rate off the ball and defensive responsibilities also decreased as his career progressed; by covering less ground on the pitch, and instead conserving his energy for short bursts of speed, he was able to improve his efficiency, movement, and positional play, and was also able to avoid muscular injuries, despite often playing a large number of matches throughout a particular season on a consistent basis. Indeed, while he was injury-prone in his early career, he was later able to improve his injury record by running less off the ball, and by adopting a stricter diet, training regime, and sleep schedule.[522] With the Argentina national team, Messi has similarly played anywhere along the frontline; under various managers, he has been employed on the right wing, as a false nine, as an out-and-out striker, in a supporting role alongside another forward, or in a deeper, free creative role as a classic number 10 playmaker or attacking midfielder behind the strikers.[384][523]
